Hi there!!
I would like to welcome you and your child to my Language Arts/Resource room. I am excited to partner with you in the education of your son/daughter. I feel confident that this will be an incredibly successful year for all of my students. I am hoping that your child will have many exciting and rewarding experiences.
For those that do not know me, my name is Miss Garwood and I have been teaching in the Warren Consolidated Schools for over 15 years. I graduated from Central Michigan University (Fire up, chips!!) with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I also have my master’s degree in Special Education/Learning Disabilities from the University of Michigan (go blue!!). Working with children started when I was fourteen and was a counselor at a camp for special needs students. I spent 18 summers/years working as a paraprofessional and teacher at the camp.
Some of my favorite things:
-My 3 nephews (soon to be 4!!)
-The Detroit Tigers
-U of M football - GO BLUE!!
-Photography (you can see some of my photographs below and throughout my webpage!!)
-Traveling
-Reading
-Teaching my students!!
In my class, your child will be embarking on an exciting journey through the world of Language Arts. We will work together to become better readers and writers. I will work diligently to make my classroom fun and highly interactive. Your child will do his/her part by putting forth 110% to every classroom meeting!
Let's have a great school year!!
